(August 25, 2024) Voting in the 2024 MNBC General Election is now underway and the Clara Morin Dal Col Team is running strong with growing support while the other group has resorted to using a computer program to do annoying mass texting.
Unfortunately, former twice-elected President Clara Morin Dal Col is not on the ballot for President because of a farcical and absurd decision by the MNBC Senate to dismiss her appeal of the Chief Electoral Officer’s decision to keep her off the ballot.
After more than a week, Ms. Morin Dal Col has still not been provided with the reasons for the decision by the Senate. How does that failure to provide the reasons for the dismissal uphold the principle of free and fair elections which is referenced by the Senate itself?
Ms. Morin Dal Col asks the question that many others are asking, “How could the Senate be so quick to dismiss my appeal but yet can’t provide the reasons upon which that decision was based? I’m told that the reasons will be coming, but it doesn’t answer the fundamental question of how could they have made a decision without reasons? If they had reasons then they should have been provided them at the same time as they handed down their decision.”
“The Chief Electoral Officer and the Senate have prevented me from being on the ballot in this election, but our Métis people will have the final say,” said the former President.
In the meantime, Ms. Morin Dal Col said, “I am not endorsing any of the three candidates for President who are on the ballot in this election. Instead, I am suggesting to MNBC Citizens that they write in my name on the mail-in ballot for President and mail it back. Yes, it will be a spoiled ballot, but that will send a message to this group. On the online ballot, I’m suggesting that you just leave it blank. That also sends a straight forward message.”
She said, “Even though I’m not on the ballot, MNBC Citizens still have the opportunity to make a real change within the MNBC Board, by electing candidates from the Clara Morin Dal Col Team, including:
Melanie Allard for MNBC Vice President
Linda van Wieringen for Provincial Métis Women’s Chair
Allan Lavallee for Region 2 (Lower Mainland) Director
Wendy Chernivchan for Region 3 (Thompson/Okanagan) Director
Don Courson for Region 4 (Kootenays) Director
Greg Sterling for Region 5 (North Central) Director
