Quit Using MNBC Resources for Political Purposes in the Middle of an Election Campaign
(August 13, 2024) A recent announcement by Métis Nation British Columbia is a blatant political move to try and garner votes in the middle of an election campaign. The announcement refers to allocating dollars that MNBC might get three years from now and use those dollars this year in an MNBC Housing program. To underscore the absurdity of the announcement, MNBC won’t even be receiving the $1,000,000 from the federal government until 2027/28 and will need to pull the $1,000,000 from current funds meant for other programs in order to accelerate the expenditure of the money.
So what happens if the next federal government says they aren’t providing those dollars to MNBC in 2027/28? How will MNBC cover the $1,000,000 that they have taken out of other program funding?
Clara Morin Dal Col, declared candidate for MNBC President said, “According to the MNBC Electoral Act and the Candidates Oath of Commitment to Privacy and Conduct candidates are not to be using MNBC resources, including equipment to advance their campaigns.”
She said, “You can’t get any more politically blatant in using MNBC resources than announcing an extra million dollars for a program in the middle of an election campaign. It is pretty obvious that the incumbent candidates are worried about the growing support for the Clara Morin Dal Col Team and are trying a new tactic to try and boost their campaign.”
“I want to know who made the decision to make the announcement in the middle of the election campaign”, Ms. Morin Dal Col said. “If an incumbent candidate even knew about it in advance and did nothing to stop the announcement then that candidate is liable to have breached their Candidates Oath, and should be removed from the ballot.”
Ms. Morin Dal Col said, “I have filed a formal complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer and we shall see if he does anything about this. In the meantime, my message to MNBC is quit using MNBC resources in this way in the middle of an election campaign, and that includes all those back-patting posts on Facebook about the different MNBC ministries.
