More Candidates Join the Clara Morin Dal Col Team for the 2024 MNBC Election
(May 13, 2024) A regional youth leader and long-time community leader are two of the latest candidates to join the Clara Morin Dal Col Team in preparation for the Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) general election scheduled for September 7, 2024.
Aladina Caron of Fruitvale, in the West Kootenay will be running for Provincial Chair of the Métis Youth of British Columbia, and Don Courson, a Métis Elder and long-time Board member of the West Kootenay Métis Society will be seeking the Regional Director’s position in Region 4.
Clara Morin Dal Col said, “I am delighted that both a regional youth leader with enthusiasm and a passion for giving young Métis people a strong credible voice at the provincial level, and a long-time community leader who is committed to providing effective representation in the Kootenays have joined our team.”
She said, “Aladina and Don add to our growing team of Métis citizens who are absolutely committed to ensuring that the priorities of Métis people in British Columbia come first going forward. Like me, they see accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility as key requirements of good governance for MNBC and for the next Board of Directors.”
Aladina said, “This is a tremendous opportunity to work with Clara and the team who are all very supportive of my candidacy and of Métis youth. They understand the critical role that Métis young people need to play moving forward, not only in preparing for leadership roles, but in also providing critical perspectives in dealing with climate change and environmental issues.”
In expressing his pleasure in joining the team, Don said, “I am pleased to be a part of a team that is working in unison to give MNBC Citizens the kind of governance and leadership they deserve. Providing proper representation to all Métis Citizens and communities in the Kootenays requires listening and acting on concerns, and I’m ready to do exactly that.”
The two latest additions to the team join Clara in her pursuit of the MNBC Presidency in the next MNBC Election, Melanie Allard of Kamloops running for Provincial Vice-President, Linda van Wieringen of Charlie Lake running for Provincial Chair – Métis Women of BC, Greg Sterling of Quesnel running for Director of Region 5, and Vince van Wieringen of Fort St. John running for Director of Region 7.
Ms. Morin Dal Col said, “Members of our team are all running for the right reasons which includes putting the needs of our citizens first and bringing back fiscal responsibility and accountability. Future members of the team will have the same commitments. Our support from citizens continues to grow because they’ve had enough of the antics and the money spending ways of this current Board with no accountability. Citizens are telling us that they have to be shown the door in the next election.
