MNBC Senate Issues Decision but Fails to Provide the Reasons

(August 19, 2024) The MNBC Senate has dismissed Clara Morin Dal Col’s appeal of the Chief Electoral Officer’s decision to stop her from running in the upcoming MNBC General Election, but has failed to provide their reasons for doing so.

Despite the fact that the decision note from the Senate indicated that either party to the appeal could request the reasons for the decision, and despite the fact that Ms. Morin Dal Col made requests for the reasons in two separate emails following receipt of the decision, nothing has been provided todate. But yet the Senate wasted no time in posting the decision on its portal on the MNBC website just a short time after it was sent to Ms. Morin Dal Col.

In her follow-up emails requesting the reasons, the declared candidate for President also asked:

  • Which Senators participated in the review of my appeal and this decision?

  • How did each Senator vote in the decision?

  • Who wrote the decision?

  • What factors of the principles of natural justice were considered?

  • In dealing with my Appeal, did the Senate seek or receive or consider any other information from any sources, other than from the Appellant (me) and the Respondent?

Based on the principles of full disclosure, the twice-elected former President is entitled to the reasons for the decision and the answers to the questions she has asked.

Ms. Morin Dal Col said, “When a decision is issued, it has to be based on sound and rational reasons or how else how can they make any decision, but yet in my case, they can’t even provide the reasons at the same time. That is absolutely absurd and farcical.” She asks, “Did they actually have any reasons written when they made their decision?”

The BC Métis leader said, “I have always been there for our Métis people, and our Métis people will have the last word on this matter…not the MNBC Senate. Since I was first elected and took my first oath of office I have always been committed to doing what’s right for our Métis people, and as a Métis Leader that commitment will always be there.”

Ms. Morin Dal Col said, “We have 6 members of the Clara Morin Dal Col Team on the ballot in this election and they all have community leadership experience and they are all running for the right reasons that is to represent the interests of all of our citizens at the grassroots level and ensure accountability and transparency for MNBC Citizens on all decisions made by the Board.”
