Clara Morin Dal Col’s Top Ten Posts in 2024

(December 31, 2024) On this last day of 2024, we revisit our top 10 posts of the year, a year in Métis politics in British Columbia like no other. From sham resolutions to questionable election decisions to runaway expenses to lack of accountability for property purchases to huge staff increases (we now know the number), 2024 was a year in which Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) moved further down the slope of irrelevancy. In shining a light on the MNBC and some of their decisions, we have kept the citizens of MNBC informed with regular posts, and here are the top 10 posts from BC Métis Leader Clara Morin Dal Col in the past 12 months -

1.     Shameful Resolution Submitted to MNGA Attempts to Stop Clara Morin Dal Col from seeking MNBC Presidency – February 9 - A shameful resolution submitted to the Métis Nation Governing Assembly attempts to prevent Clara Morin Dal Col from running for the position of President in the 2024 Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) General Election. The shameful and shocking resolution in effect attempts to amend the MNBC Constitution without going to the people.

2.      MNBC Tries New Move as They Skate on Thin Ice with Disputable Resolution – February 27 - For the first time in the history of holding Métis Nation Governing Assemblies, an “MNGA Delegate Orientation” session is being held in advance of the MNGA opening on Friday, March 1st. Although being billed as an opportunity for delegates to query the MNGA Clerk about meeting procedures and process, such a meeting has never been held before in advance of an MNGA and is seen as an attempt by senior MNBC officials to try and justify how Resolution #2 ever got on the agenda for the MNGA. https://www.presidentclara.com/post/mnbc-tries-new-move-as-they-skate-on-thin-ice-with-disputable-resolution

3.      Declaration passed at MNGA in March aimed at stopping Clara Morin Dal Col has no legal force – June 15 - Clara Morin Dal Col is sending a message that is loud and clear to the handful of incumbents from the Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) Board of Directors who have announced they are going to seek re-election in the upcoming MNBC General Election. Ms. Morin Dal Col says, “I am running for President in the upcoming election, and that declaration that you and your group of supporters passed at the Métis Nation Governing Assembly (MNGA) back in March that was aimed at stopping me from running was meaningless and pure politics. In other words – it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on.” https://www.presidentclara.com/post/declaration-passed-at-mnga-in-march-aimed-at-stopping-clara-morin-dal-col-has-no-legal-force

4.     Clara Morin Dal Col’s Nomination Papers Rejected by Chief Electoral Officer – July 30 - The nomination papers for Clara Morin Dal Col to seek the Presidency of Métis Nation British Columbia in the upcoming MNBC General Election have been rejected by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). Ms. Morin Dal Col was informed of his decision by email yesterday just minutes before he posted the list of candidates. https://www.presidentclara.com/post/clara-morin-dal-col-s-nomination-papers-rejected-by-chief-electoral-officer

5.     Clara Morin Dal Col Appeals Decision of the Chief Electoral Officer – August 6 - Clara Morin Dal Col is appealing the decision of the Chief Electoral Officer to deny her, her right to seek the Presidency of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) in the upcoming September General Election. The former MNBC President is appealing to the MNBC Senate to consider her appeal as soon as possible and to issue an immediate order to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) that overrules his decision rejecting her nomination. In making her appeal, Ms. Morin Dal Col alleges among other grounds that the CEO errored by overstepping the limits of the MNBC Electoral Act and basing his decision on a biased and flawed “outside legal opinion”. https://www.presidentclara.com/post/clara-morin-dal-col-appeals-decision-of-the-chief-electoral-officer
